So do you want to believe that there is life after death? I have deliberately used the word “believe” as certain first hand knowledge of life after death can come only after death. So it remains a belief and not knowledge. Before you say yes, take the JD (Jiddu) Krishnamurti challenge. Why do you want to believe that there is life after death? Isn’t one life not sufficient for you? What is it that you want to achieve in another life that you cant achieve in this one? Now think again. Is it your ego, or a firm belief in your religion that there is an afterlife ?. For Hindus, it is another life on earth based on your karma in this life. For others it is either heaven and hell. So there is a continuity according to all religions and death is not an end, and neither is birth a beginning. So, what is it ? Are you uncomfortable with the idea that the universe is a chance event and so is your birth and death? That no part of what you identify as yourself will exist after your death except in people’s minds ? Is it the fear of complete abandonment, of the knowledge that we are alone in this universe ?. Or you are dead (no pun intended) sure that the principles of the major religion are indeed correct and there is life after death in different forms as set out. In that case, you should not have fear of death, as only after death can you unite with God. (For Hindus, this will be a series of births and deaths before unification with the creator.) If that is indeed the case, then why is man in general afraid of death ? Isn’t your fear of death a doubt that there is nothingness after death ?. Isn’t your fear of death in reality a fear of discovering that there is no purpose to the universe and the whole universe can be explained by a theoretical physicist (Try reading The Blind Watchmaker by Richard Dawkins which deals with this subject) in terms of probability and quantum theory? Search yourself.

more than fear of death people are scared of what more is in store in the present life.
